Margie Alline Gasway Herndon
Margie passed away from this life on September 10, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 85. Margie was born January 2, 1939, in Swink, Oklahoma to Ethel Franklin and Mary Agnes (Mitchell) Gasway.
Margie grew up in Fort Towson, Oklahoma, was Valedictorian of her 1957 High School Class and loved playing the piano.
On December 19, 1958, Margie and Charles M. Herndon were married in Trinity United Methodist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They celebrated 58 years together.
Margie and Charles had three children, Mark Eric (Linda) Herndon of Oklahoma City, EvaMarie Herndon (Myers) Campbell of Tulsa, Alan Deon (Elisha) Herndon of Edmond, Oklahoma.
Margie was a homemaker, Librarian, and Christian Educator. She was passionate about the missions of the United Women in Faith and The United Methodist Church. She was a solid support for Charles who was a United Methodist minister for 43 years.
She loved singing in the choir, directing children’s choirs and giving piano lessons.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and husband.
Margie is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, and her niece Alicia Brents.
Her family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving care Charles and Margie experienced during their time living at Trinity Woods of Tulsa.
They also express appreciation for the care received by Seasons Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boston Avenue Church United Women in Faith.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Sam Powers will officiate. 1301 South Boston Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma
