Maria Bates' Obituary
Maria Estell Vasquez Bates affectionately known as “Cuqui,” 64, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on October 1, 2020 in Tulsa, OK.
Maria was born in the Dominican Republic in the countries capital of Santo Domingo to Clara Argentina Frontal and Eduardo Cesar Vasquez on December 12, 1955. She moved to New York City as a child and lived in Brooklyn, NY. Maria graduated from Clara Barton High School in New York City. She met her beloved husband, John Bates in Oklahoma where she worked as a secretary in his law firm before settling into her role as wife and mother.
Maria was the life of the party where ever she went, and her upbeat, infectious energy was felt by everyone she encountered. In her time with us she overflowed with love and light. It is with a heavy heart that we lay her to rest, but we are blessed to have shared time and space with her and are grateful to have this opportunity to celebrate her life.
Maria is preceded in death by her beloved husband John Bates.
Maria is survived by her three sons Justin, Alex and Thomas Bates, Mother Clara Argentina Frontal and sister Belgica Sanchez.
The family of Maria Bates extends our sincere thanks to everyone who’s sent well wishes and condolences during this time.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15 from 4 pm - 6 pm.
Services will take place at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 16 at the Floral Haven Chapel.
Cremation will follow as per the families wishes.
