Marilyn Elizabeth Mason's Obituary
Marilyn Elizabeth (Hurn) Mason Marilyn passed away on June 6, 2015. She was 68. She was born in Pawhuska, OK on September 20, 1946. Her parents were Serena and J.D. Hurn. She spent her childhood traveling around the country. Her daddy was a pipeline welder. They live in 24 states and 2 provinces before settling in Pawhuska, where she graduated from high school in 1964. She married Archie Mason in 1964; they later divorced. They had two children together, Lance and Shannon. She raised her children and then began her career at Tulsa Peterbilt Trucks, now known as Rush Trucks. She worked there for 28 years before retiring in January 2015. Marilyn was the most loving, forgiving, compassionate, generous, and funny person we knew. She told great stories and could make people laugh. Unselfish and giving, she would never hesitate to take care of her family, friends, and any animal that crossed her path. She was an awesome mother, grandma, great grandma, and Aunt Shorty. Children and all God’s creatures were drawn to her. She loved spending time with her family and vacationing the mountains of Colorado. She is survived by son Lance Mason (Donna) of Tulsa; daughter Shannon Mason Young (Timothy) of Eau Claire, WI; sister Carolyn Rumsey of Tulsa, aunt, Sue Hurn of Cleora, OK; niece Jennifer Marraccini (Jason) of Broken Arrow; grandchildren Shandi, Hunter, Nicholas and Benjamin; great-granddaughter Adilyn; and her nieces and nephews. A celebration of life ceremony will be held Thursday, June 11 at 10 AM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow. In lieu of flowers, please honor Marilyn’s memory with a donation to your local Humane Society. .
