Marilyn Alice Hinkefent's Obituary
Marilyn Alice Hinkefent, aka Mert, delivered by her own father at the Masonic Hospital, 5:45 AM March 26, 1932, in Cherokee, Oklahoma. She died Memorial Day, May 30, 2022, age 90, at home with her children beside her. She is preceded in death by husband, James C. Hinkefent, beloved older brother James Mercer, parents, Dr. J. Wendall and Dorothy Mercer and grandson, Coleman Wayne Hinkefent.
She is survived by her children Eric Hinkefent, Sally Karlovitz, Mary Ann O'Dell, all of Tulsa, Amy Thomas of Edmond, six grandchildren: Emil Hinkefent, Wendall Sobol, Anna Sobol, Erica Hinkefent, Haley Hinkefent and Emily O'Dell as well as great granddaughter Sunday James Hinkefent, her first cousin, Don Rankin and his family, and extended family, Maurice McHenry and daughters, Rozley and Zoey.
Marilyn spent her life in service as a wife, mother, child evangelist, hostess, cook, grandmother, and friend. A longtime member of Southwood Bible Church and PEO, she never met a stranger. Her home was a refuge full of life.
Visitation: Friday, June 3, 5-7 PM Floral Haven, 6500 S. 129th E Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Service: June 4, 2022, 1 PM at Heritage Bible Church, 8205 E 586 Rd., Catoosa, Oklahoma (directions at heritagebible.org)
