Marion Lou Finley (October 20, 1940 – February 18, 2024)
Marion Finley, a man of unwavering dedication, service, and faith, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on February 18, 2024, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Born on October 20, 1940, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, Marion's life was a tapestry of love and service to others.
Marion Finley’s legacy lives on through the cherished memories and the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his loving daughter, Julie Finley; his adoring daughter, Susie Coburn, and her husband, John Coburn; and his devoted son Mike Finley, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Finley. Marion's presence will continue to be felt through the generations as he is also survived by his grandchildren, Lindsay Finley Barnes; Andrew Finley; Zachary Jenkins; Summer Hoffman and her husband, Dalton Hoffman; Stone Coburn; and Steele Coburn, as well as his great-grandchildren, Claire Barnes, Sam Barnes and Evie Hoffman. Marion is preceded in death by his parents, Rozella and Pearl Finley, and his brother, Robert Finley.
Marion was a very proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps, embodying the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. His service, patriotism and love of his country were extremely important to him.
Marion began a career at American Airlines as an aircraft mechanic and later became a beloved and highly regarded figure in the leadership of the Transport Workers Union (TWU) Local 514 for American Airlines. In leadership roles, he served as President of the TWU Local 514. His leadership and dedication left an indelible mark, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues for his tenacity and skill in arbitration. He was adept at building and maintaining meaningful relationships. Upon Marion’s passing, the TWU Local 514 have honored Marion in this article. His love for family was the cornerstone of his life, creating lasting connections and memories that will endure. In addition to his many accomplishments, Marion was a Christian who found strength and guidance in his faith. He knew Jesus Christ as his savior, and one scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6, held particular significance for him: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
As we celebrate Marion's life and remember the impact he had on each of us, a reception for friends and family will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Floral Haven Family Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
A memorial service to celebrate Marion's life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the Robert’s – IOOF Cemetery in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Minister Lanny Jobe will be officiating the service and the Roberts & Son funeral home in Blackwell, Oklahoma will be coordinating the service.
May Marion rest in eternal peace, reunited with his loved ones who went before him, and may his family find comfort in the fond memories they shared with him. Marion’s life was a testament to trust, love, and service. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate a life well-lived and remember the indelible mark he leaves on the hearts of those who knew him.
