Marion Virginia Shepard's Obituary
Marion Virginia Shepard was born June 28, 1926, to Samuel and Lillian Stewart in Wolfe City, Texas. On August 11, 1946, she married Larry G. Shepard in Wichita, Kansas, and they later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to raise their family. She departed this life on April 25, 2017, and is survived by four loving sons—Larry Shepard, Bobby Shepard, Randall Shepard and wife Carolyn, and James Shepard—five grandchildren—Jason Shepard, Amanda Shepard, Melissa Taylor and husband Robert, Jennifer Shepard, and Glenn Shepard—three great-grandchildren—Blake Shepard, Jack Taylor, and Kate Taylor—and one great-great-grandchild—Teegan Shepard—and a host of dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was an amazing woman. Possibly the most independent, strongest, and wisest person her family and friends had the privilege of knowing. She enjoyed gardening and had the greenest thumb; she could grow flowers, plants, vegetables, you name it, with ease. She regularly completed the Sunday crossword puzzle and could solve Wheel of Fortune phrases way before the contestants. She knew how to laugh at herself and regularly did. She was both endearing and no-nonsense. She was not the most sentimental or mushiest person, but no one ever felt any less loved because of it. She enjoyed doting on the young ones and looked forward to their excitement over gifts presented to them. She was empathetic to a fault and always put others before herself and could not stand to inconvenience anyone. She lived her life on her own terms and departed it in the same manner. She will be sorely missed and celebrated regularly. A memorial service will be held at Floral Haven Cemetery on Saturday, April 30, 2017.
