Marjorie Rosemary Burke's Obituary
Marjorie (Marge) Rosemary Burke, age 96, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed from this life Thursday, August 14, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Marjorie was born March 21, 1929, to Ernest and Rose Marie (Voell) Shepard in Crete, Illinois. Marge moved to Bridgeport Connecticut in 1958 with her two girls, Joy and Grace. She worked at General Electric where she met Joseph Bud Burke. Marge and Bud married on June 15, 1962 in Bridgeport, Connecticut where they began their life together with their 2 girls. They quickly purchased their first home in Huntington, Connecticut where they lived for the next 6 years. During those years, Marge volunteered in the school libraries that her daughters attended and became the Leader for both the Brownie and Junior troops in which both of the girls were enrolled. They went on many day and overnight camping trips together, memories they shared often, even as adults. In February of 1970, Marge and her family moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico. Marge joined the United Church of Ponce which she attended each week with her daughters. Marge often drove the car that would take her daughters and their friends to the beach. She loved to be by the water and enjoyed the beautiful beaches she shared with her daughters and their friends. After several years, Marge became the librarian at the Caribbean School in Ponce. She was always there to help anyone needing assistance with research or to find a good book to read. In July of 1976, Marge and her family moved to Warwick, Rhode Island where she worked as a Medical Assistant until retiring. During those years, she enjoyed bowling and bowled several perfect games, winning her awards and trophies for her team. With the desire to be close to their grandkids, she and her husband Joseph moved to their final home in Broken Arrow in 1995.
Marge has left behind to cherish her memory, daughters: Joy Plested (Brian) and Grace Burke, granddaughter Sarah (Bina) Conant (Jon), grandson Michael Bina, great-granddaughter Raelyn Conant, and great-grandson Porter Conant.
Family is planning a celebration of life gathering.
