Marjorie E. Hoye's Obituary
Marjorie E. “Margie” Hoye, 90, Owasso, went home to the Lord on June 30, 2016. Born in Okmulgee on July 20, 1925 to loving parents Mabel Carmack and Richard McTague, she took her place in a far-reaching line of long-lived, gentle, charming, stubborn and witty women of Irish descent. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Charles H. “Bud” Hoye, Jr. The births of children Buddy and Cathy followed eight and ten years later, and the Hoyes moved to Midwest City, where Margie shined in her new career as wife, homemaker and mother. Margie and Bud later welcomed Buddy’s wife Tammy and Cathy’s husbandDavid Dean to the family; Buddy and Tammy later fulfilled Margie’sgreatest desire with twin grandchildren, Hannah and Harrison. In retirement, Margie and Bud hit the road in their restored vintagecars along with friends in the OKC Early Ford V8 Club. Margie’s many joys included stopping on the roadside to pick up rocks assouvenirs, playing the penny slots, and cowboy dancing with Bud. They enjoyed 64 years together. Following Bud’s death in 2012, and robbed of her memory by a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Margie’s final years were spent at Homestead Owasso, where the staff there, along with Grace Hospice, provided compassionate and comforting care to Margie, for which her children are truly grateful. A joy-filled celebration of Margie’s life will be held at her daughter’s home on July 23, 2016 beginning at 2:30 pm. All of Margie’s friends and family are invited, and may respond at [email protected]. Please make your memorials in Margie’s name at the Alzheimer’s Association.
