Mrs. Knigge was my fifth-grade teacher, and I still remember her so clearly. At the start of the year, I’ll admit I was a little intimidated—she carried herself with such presence—but it didn’t take long to realize she was never unkind, just steady and strong in the best way. Fifth grade was a mischievous year for our class, and one moment that’s stayed with me was a prank someone played on her desk drawer. We all held our breath waiting for her reaction… and then, to our surprise, she simply giggled right along with us. That small moment said so much about her. I’m grateful to have been one of her students, and it brings me comfort to read that she lived a life so well loved and full. She made a lasting impression, and she will be remembered.
