Marjory "Margie" Lois Thomas' Obituary
Marjory Lois Hammill Thomas was born on October 16, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois to Russell and Mabel (McLaughlin) Hammill. She graduated from York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, and later, Millikin University, in 1954.
She married James (Jim) Thomas In 1955 and the couple began a series of moves as Jim worked his way up in management. Marge taught first grade wherever they lived. Their daughter, Julie, was born in 1959 and son, Kevin, in 1961.
In later years, the family moved to Champaign, Illinois, Suffolk, Virginia, and finally, to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to be near family. They enjoyed boating on the Elizabeth River and the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia and attending sporting events and school activities for their grandkids over the next twenty years.
Margie is survived by her children, Julie Rowland (Scott) and Kevin Thomas (Ellen); grandchildren Taylor Kennedy (Gavin), Jordan Cantrell (Kalalau), John Rowland (Kasey) and Kate Brooks (Jason), and step-grandson, Jaymes Grabowski; as well as great-grandchildren, Dylan and Owen Kennedy, Levi and Maddox Cantrell, and Luke and Cole Rowland.
The family want to thank the staff at Trinity Woods, for their devoted care these past few years, as well as St. Francis Hospice and the staff of Clarehouse.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 24th, at Asbury United Methodist Church, in the chapel, at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider donations to Clarehouse.
