Marshall King Luton's Obituary
Marshall King Luton, 70 years old, died Tuesday, November 26, 2014. He was born September 30, 1944 in Nashville, TN to Joe and Ruth Luton, the youngest of four children. He attended Treadwell High School in Memphis and earned a Bachelor’s degree of Science at Memphis State University. He worked several years as a Senior Systems Analyst for Agrico Chemical Co. and then as an IT Systems Consultant for Williams Companies for 28 years before retirement. He also served the community in many capacities, including Treasurer of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Memphis, Treasurer of East Tulsa Soccer Club, and President of Soccer Team Club. He was an active member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. He was a longtime USSF Soccer referee, and he played a vital role in the development and maintenance of area soccer fields for youth club activities. He was recognized for his efforts in the Youth Indian Trailblazer program of the Eastside YMCA. Marshall was also a very gifted singer, a member of the Founder’s Chorus Chapter of the SPEBSQSA. Inc, and a solo and quartet vocalist in church and community performances. Musical highlights include performing with Sammy Davis Jr., the Tulsa Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tulsa Opera. Marshall was a witty and charismatic man who loved singing, playing Bridge and Canasta, and socializing with good friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ruth Luton, his first wife of 35 years, Reba Dale Luther, his sister, Margaret Ruth Noble, and his brother Joe Baxter Luton, Jr. Marshall is survived by his wife Patti Dalton Luton, his sister, Sara Luton Eubanks (Vernon), his three sons, Marshall Jr.(Mary), Robert (Chris), and Steven, four grandchildren, Braden, Jacob, Evie, and Henry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
