Martha Jane Campbell's Obituary
Martha Jane (Chouteau) Campbell, 77, of Bartlesville, died on November 27, 2020.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 3, 1943, the only child of Theodore Roosevelt Robert Chouteau and Novis Lavelle (Ware) Chouteau. The family lived in the Warren Petroleum Camp outside of Carmi, Illinois for the first 4 years of Jane's life. In 1947 the family moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma, where Jane attended Lindsay Public Schools from first grade through graduation in 1961. Jane attended Southern Methodist University and after a short illness, attended and graduated from Draughon's School of Business, Oklahoma City, OK in 1962.
She started her career with Champlin, Moak, Hunsaker, and Rouse, a CPA firm in Oklahoma City. Jane met Harold Monroe Campbell on a blind date in Oklahoma City, where they both resided. Jane and Harold were married June 11, 1965 at the First Methodist Church of Lindsay, Oklahoma. They made their home in Oklahoma City, OK. Harold was an Oklahoma City Police Officer. Jane worked for Kirkpatrick Oil Company and later for Schlumberger Well Services. Harold and Jane bought their first home in 1967 with plans to begin a family. In 1968, Harold and Jane welcomed their first child, daughter Camden Lavelle Campbell. In 1971, they welcomed their second child, son Theodore (Ted) Edward Campbell.
In 1977, the family moved to southwest OKC, near Yukon. The children attended public school in Mustang, OK. Jane graduated from El Reno Junior College in 1985. In 1986, Jane went to work for Nettle's Jewel Box Florist until she retired in 1989. Harold continued to move up in rank at the police force until he retired in May 1996 as the Major over Uniform Support. Upon his retirement, they moved to Bartlesville, OK to their 40-acre property a few miles west of town.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents Ted Chouteau (1982) and Lavelle Chouteau (2004) and her husband, Harold M. Campbell (2013). Surviving her are her daughter Camden Campbell and husband Bill Pendley of Bartlesville, OK, her son Ted and wife Helen Campbell of Davenport, FL and her grandson, T. Logan Campbell of Bartlesville, OK.
Per her instructions, Jane was cremated and combined with her beloved Labrador, Keeso, who proceeded her in death. Her remains will be sprinkled per her wishes in January.
