Martha Mae Owens' Obituary
Martha Mae Owens passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016. She was born August 8, 1928, in Decatur, IL, to Rev. Daniel L. Blickenstaff and Mabrye Blickenstaff. Martha earned her nursing degree from Christ Hospital (now called Storemont Vail) in Topeka, Kansas. She went on to work in Kansas City at the Osteopathic Hospital, in private duty at St. John’s Ambassador Hotel in Tulsa, at Art Centre Hospital in Detroit, MI and at Springer Clinic in Tulsa. Martha was a founding member of the Registered Nurse Community Volunteers, Inc. (RNCV) in 1968 and president from 1978-1979. She was honored to be chosen as a Lifetime Honorary Member. She also served as president of the Tulsa District Osteopathic Auxiliary. While living in San Clemente, CA with her husband, Bill, Martha was very active in St. Andrews by the Sea Methodist Church as well as in her P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter. She and Bill enjoyed world travel and spending time with their children and grandchildren. She returned to Tulsa in 2007 and enjoyed living at Montereau. Martha was a beautiful, true lady, inside and out, and had many friends. Her strong faith, gracious and charming demeanor, impeccable taste and “caring and sharing” nature made her a joy to be around. She will be missed beyond measure by her family and friends, but will live in our hearts forever. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Daniel L. and Mabrye Blickenstaff, husband, Bill Owens, and sister, Jody Matthews. She is survived by her son, Dr. Beau Jennings and wife, Mary Ann of Broken Arrow, daughter Paula Jennings of Tulsa, step sons Bill Owens, Jr. of Glendale, AZ and Dr. Jay C. Owens of Sacramento, CA, grandsons, Beau S. Jennings and wife, Jodi and children, Augustus and Juniper of Norman, OK, Cody Jennings and wife, Rachel of Groton, NY, and granddaughter, Jessica McIntyre and husband Tyson and daughter Adelaide of Winnfield, LA, and extended family.
