Martha Jayne Rogers' Obituary
Martha Jayne Rogers, born October 6, 1923, passed away after a short illness on November 7, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Martha Jayne was born in Desdemona, TX and was the second oldest daughter of Glen and Marie Dawley. After attending junior college, she worked in Oklahoma City where she met her husband, Lt Guy A. Rogers on a blind date. Married six months later. Jayne became a military wife and enjoyed living in many parts of the world. Jayne resided in Lawton, OK for many years after her husband’s retirement. They raised three children, Guy II, Barbara and Annie. Jayne spent time in Japan, Ft Knox, KY, Ft. Sill, OK, Detroit, MI; Ft Riley KS; ITALY, Montgomery, AL; and made friends everywhere.Jayne was a devoted mother. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, family traditions, grand/great-grandchildren, entertaining, bridge, crossword puzzles and reading. Jayne was always ready to travel, never missing an opportunity to visit family, especially grandchildren and later great- grandchildren. She built communities of friendship everywhere she went. Jayne looked forward to playing bridge every week and of course winning! She was a smart, classy and sassy lady who taught us all the meaning of unconditional love. She will be dearly missed and always remembered as our “Queen Mom.”Martha Jayne was preceded in death by her husband, (Ret) Col. Guy A Rogers, and her sister, Mary Ellen Maloney.She is survived by her son Guy A. Rogers II (Marilyn), Barbara Rogers Kelley (Mark), Ann Rogers Bass (James), 7 grandchildren, 4 great – grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and many nieces and nephews.
