Martin Ann Josephine "Jo"'s Obituary
Martin, Josephine 'Jo' A., 78 of Broken Arrow, went to be with her Lord on May 4, 2011. She was born on July 8, 1932 in Hana, Wyoming to Evan and Anna (Akerson) Jones. She attended school in Hanna and graduated from Hanna High School in 1950. Jo attended the University of Wyoming and graduated with a BS in three years. She began her teaching career in Douglas, Wyoming where she served for 17 years. In 1969 Harold Martin moved to Douglas where he met the love of his life Jo, and they were married on December 23, 1971 and celebrated 39 years together. She served her Lord on 51 mission trips throughout the world touching countless lives through her work. Jo was a member of Ruth Circle and UMW and was active on the Missions Committee at the First United Methodist Church in broken Arrow. She is survived by her husband, Harold L. Martin; daughter, Laurie Jones and husband Mike, stepdaughters, Debra Martin and Michelle Heutzel and stepson, Douglas Martin; grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, Charity, Michelle, April, Brian, Tim, Zachary, Amanda, Alex, Nikki and 13 great grandchildren. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Evan and Anna Jones; son, Charles E. Carothers. She leaves behind a legacy of love in the example of her savior Jesus Christ. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Broken Arrow.
