Mary Ann Duncan's Obituary
Mary Ann Duncan, a devoted mother, grandmother, caring friend, and cherished member of her
community, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024. She was 83. She leaves behind a legacy of love,
hard work, and deep commitment to those in her life.
Mary Ann was born on June 11, 1941, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Richard and Dorthea
Fauhl. She graduated from Neosho (Missouri) High School, Class of 1959.
Early in life, Mary Ann was a dedicated and involved stay-at-home mother. She and her family moved to
Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1970 and made Tulsa home. Mary Ann was a nurturing person and found joy in
caring for others. She and her, then husband, became foster parents, caring for many children. She
found that she had a special heart for children with disabilities and over time, cared for many children
with multiple disabilities. After raising her family, which included foster parenting for many years, she
furthered her education at Tulsa Junior College and ultimately obtained her bachelor’s degree from the
University of Oklahoma, in 1996.
Known for her desire to make the world a better place for others, she will be missed by all who knew
her. Mary Ann dedicated her life to the service of others, through her work with the Alzheimer’s
Association as retired Vice-President of Programs and Public Policy, as well as her volunteer work with
Tulsa Arc, OK-AIM many organizations for those with disabilities. She has been described as a “voice for
many without a voice” as an advocate for people with dementia, disability, and/or recovery from
addiction.
Mary Ann’s love extended to her many children. She is survived by her two daughters; Liz Russell and
husband Fred; Lynn Morain and husband, Marc; one son, Minky Martin; 4 grandchildren, Adam Russell
(wife Thien), Aaron Russell (wife Jessica), Rebecca Russell (husband Jeremy), Kristin Morain; and 2 great
grandchildren; Michaela Russell and Aria Russell. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ron
Duncan; two sons; Richard Smith and Hal Becker; and a daughter; Bridgette Becker.
Celebration of Life will be 3:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2024, at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 S. 129th East Ave., Broken Arrow.
Mary Ann's life and legacy will be remembered for her profound generosity and the deep connections
she fostered within her community.
