Mary Ruth Edmundson's Obituary
Mary Ruth Stevens Edmundson was born July 14, 1928, to Harry Edward and Rose Mae Stevens in Tulsa Oklahoma. Mary spent her childhood around Catoosa, Oklahoma, eventually settling on a farm in Wagoner County east of Catoosa with her sisters Lurline, Ester, Theda, Lorena, and her brothers Harry Jr, Ed, and Paul Jean. Mary attended school at Koncklin and then Catoosa graduating in 1946 with eleven other students. Mary was the last surviving sibling of Harry and Rose Stevens.
Mary married A Frank Edmundson Jr. on November 16, 1948, and moved with him to southern California where they lived with Franks brother Bill and his wife Talitha while Frank worked in a steel mill, Mary babysat for Talitha and Bill. Franks father passed in 1948, and they moved back to Catoosa where Mary worked in her father’s store while raising her sons Frank and James Wesley. Mary’s father sold his store then Mary started working for a grocery store in Tulsa before moving on to work for Affiliated Foods as a key punch operator. During her career at Affiliated she had three more children Bruce, Mary (Sis), and Sandra. Mary worked during the day, went to school at night and earned an Associate of Arts in Accounting, this helped her to move up in the company and retire as the office manager in 1989.
Mary and Frank loved to travel and see the sites of our beautiful country and over time visited all fifty states, Canada and Mexico. They spent many summers in Gunnison Colorado with lifelong friends Jack and Paula Stout. Her most prized possession is her family and friends; she loved being with them.
Mary is survived by her son A. Frank and wife Donna, James Wesley and wife Rebecca, son Bruce Wayne and daughters Mary Ruth (Sis) Edmundson, Sandra, and husband Gilbert Renteria. Mary has thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
