Mary Margaret Freeman's Obituary
Mary Margaret Freeman, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2024, at the Montereau retirement community in Tulsa, OK. She was 89 years old and just one week shy of her 90th birthday.
Mary Margaret was born on January 21, 1934, in Nauvoo, Missouri, to Hershel and Florence Bonham. She graduated from Blue Eye High School in southern Missouri in 1950. Following graduation, she attended Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield. She later attended Draughon Business School in Springfield where she also became the president of the Beta Xi chapter of the Alpha Iota International Honorary Business sorority. On August 28, 1955, she married James Elmer Freeman, whom she had grown up with since birth, and they relocated to Tulsa, OK. The next year, she began working with Amerada, which became Amerada Hess, and she remained employed with them until she retired 35+ years later. In 1963, they had one daughter, Judith Ann.
Mary Margaret was a follower of Christ and had been an active member at Eastwood Baptist Church in Tulsa where she had also taught Sunday School. She had been an active member of the Bible Prophecy Study of Tulsa and had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As a hobby, she loved family history and had conducted genealogy research for many years.
Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Carley, and husband Mark, and two grandchildren, Joshua T. Carley and Brittany L. Carley, all of Sugar Land, TX. She had multiple cousins and many close friends too numerous to count.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK.
Family to be receiving friends on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Floral Haven Family Center from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM prior to the funeral service. There will be light snacks and drinks available.
Funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gordon Small officiating.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to those that loved on and cared for Mary Margaret, including her first cousin, Twila Lewis of Broken Arrow, Ok, Todd and staff at Seasons Hospice, and the many nurses and staff at Montereau.
