Mary Lou Howell's Obituary
Mary Lou Howell, 83, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away January 31, 2017 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Mary Lou and her twin brother Robert were born on October 3, 1933 to Herman and Gertrude Petri in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Kendall Elementary, Wilson Jr. High and graduated from Will Rogers High School. After high school she started working at National Bank of Tulsa now known as Bank of Oklahoma. Mary Lou married Merle Lee Howell of Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 4, 1954. They lived in Tulsa for 15 years before moving to McAlester, Oklahoma. They raised 3 sons, Larry, David and Steven. Mary Lou volunteered at the McAlester General Hospital. Later moving to Muskogee, Oklahoma she worked at Muskogee General Hospital. Returning to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma she started working at American Bank & Trust. She retired after 20 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, decorating her home, and working with flowers in the yard. She received yard of the week from the Home Owners Association. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Mary Lou will be greatly missed. She is survived by her twin brother Bob Petri, her loving husband of 62 years Merle Howell, her sons Larry Howell and his wife Valerie, David Howell, and Steven Howell and his wife Robyn and her granddaughters Kayla Howell, Christina Howell and Lindsay Howell. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
