I remember rubbing aloe on my sunburns straight from her aloe plant, Some kind of Tomato and cheese salad I fell in love with and the tiny house on Ute St. Where my cousin, Donnetta, and I would walk to the convenience store for a Dr. Pepper and a Mountain Dew. We felt like big shots going by ourselves. I remember Grandma talking about all the children she watched in the neighborhood and watching her make iced tea for Grandpa (and everyone else). I remember her laugh, her opinions and her grandchildren wall. I remember the kisses on my cheek and the reminders to "Be good". I remember her going to the beauty parlor to get her hair done and wishing I could go with her. I remember reading my first book to her on the phone and her accolades. I have and will always love being called "Copper Top" and though Grandpa gave me the name, she used it with affection. I look forward to seeing her again. Until then, I will be singing Amazing Grace.
