Mary Joan Jurries' Obituary
Mary Joan Jurries, “Jody”, passed away on March 23, 2023 at the age of 94. Born on April 12, 1928 to Harry and Gladys Poulson of Breckenridge, Missouri. She took baton twirling lessons at age 10, then later after high school, was the majorette with the Culver-Stockton College Band. Jody’s first job was with Trans World Airlines (TWA).
She met Chuck Jurries who invited her to the University of Missouri “Engineers Ball” and gave her her first orchid corsage. She and Chuck were engaged to be married one year later. They had (2) daughters, Vicki Jurries, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Jan (Gary) Wulf of Dublin, Ohio.
Jody used her artistic abilities as docent and tour guide at Gilcrease Art Museum, as well as decorating for parties and various events at her church. She also volunteered for 50 years at Children’s Medical Center Thrift Shop.
In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her brother Ralph (Wanda) Poulson, 4 grandchildren - Jennifer (Bryan) McElroy and Eric (Kirsten)Lee, Jason (Karyn) Wulf, and Chad (Tiffany) Wulf, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Charities she supported were Children’s Medical Center, Tunnels to Towers, and South Tulsa Baptist Church.
