Mary Lois Layne's Obituary
Mary Lois Layne 93 of Glenpool, Oklahoma went home to be with the Lord, Friday August 30th, 2019.Visitation will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5th, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.A celebration of her life graveside service will be held in the Veteran’s Field of Honor, conducted by Pastor Brad Brooks on Friday, September 6th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.Mary was born on April 26th, 1926 in Collierville, Tennessee to her parents, William E. Anthony and Lola Mae Sanderlin Anthony. She married her sweetheart, Ralph Layne on February 4th, 1949. Ralph and Mary moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where they started to raise two children and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1958. Mary went by her middle name Lois so when she married Ralph her name became Lois Layne, and on more than one occasion she was teased about where Superman was. She got a big kick out of being called Superman’s girlfriend.Mary Lois was a member of Trinity Methodist Church and was a member of the Tulsa Garden Club for many years. She loved to cook, sew and crochet, but most of all she loved her grand and great grandchildren.When her husband, Ralph retired, they traveled to the valley in Texas, or to other areas for the winter months where they made new friendships. They loved to square dance and was in a square dance club for several years. They also loved to fish and play cards.In 2010 Ralph went to be with the Lord and she moved into assisted living at University Village in Tulsa. She made several friends and she loved to wee bowl. She wrote down her scores and had to share them with her son Mike. She loved it when her family came to visit while she was bowling.In 2016 she was moved into Glenwood Healthcare because of her health.Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brenda Layne of Glenpool, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Eric Brooks of Tulsa; two granddaughters, Brandi Johnston and Stacy Warden and her husband Jon Warden; seven great grandchildren, Dakota Johnston, James Johnston, Jacob Warden, Gabrielle Johnston, Marcus Warden, Cole Warden and Sam Warden; and one niece Norma Ruth Jones from Lubbock, Texas, and one nephew Alvin Carman from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lola Anthony; her husband, Ralph A. Layne; brothers, Franklin, Forrest and James; sisters, Lola Bright, Lily Bugbee, Josephine Carman and Louise Pringle.
