Mary Gladys Leighty's Obituary
Mary Gladys Tucker Leighty Mary Gladys Tucker was born February 5, 1923 near Ludlow, Livingston County, Missouri, the only child of Wm. Othel Tucker and Mary Davis Tucker. After the death of her Mother when Mary Gladys was 7 she lived with foster parents John and Rebecca Trotter Clay. She grew up and attended school in Carrollton, Missouri. On November 10, 1942 she married Floyd Harold Leighty in Carrollton, Missouri. In 1949 they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she was employed as an oil and Gas lease Title Clerk for Sinclair Oil & Gas Corporation for 19 years. In 1969She was employed by Oxley Petroleum Company as head of the oil and gas leasing section. She retired in 1982. She and Floyd were the parents of two children, Floyd Jr. and Barbara McConnell. Her hobbies were raising flowers especially day lilies and genealogy. She and Floyd published three books on the genealogy of their ancestors. She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Tulsa, Ok. and the Daughters of American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents, foster parents, and Grandson Christopher McConnell. Survived by husband Floyd of the home, Son Floyd, Jr, of the home and daughter Barbara McConnell of Grand Rapids, Michigan, granddaughter Lory Zuptich & husband Joseph Zuptich of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Jennifer Treece and husband Ken of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Great- Grandchildren: Quinn, Chelsea, Veronica, Clare, Regan, Penalope, Jane of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Brother-In-Law Cecil Robert Leighty and wife, Lorie of Moore, Oklahoma. Sister-In-Law Lois Boothe of Oklahoma City, Ok. and Laural Lea Miller and husband Fred of Nowata, Ok. Visitation Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 12:30 pm Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow with Committal to follow.
