Mary Jane Nelson's Obituary
Beautiful, loving Mary Jane Nelson, 79 of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Friday, July 15, 2022. She was born September 15, 1942 in Stella, Missouri to her parents, Bill and Bessie Wilkerson. She began her greatest adventure marrying her perfect match, David Nelson, December 28, 1963. Over 58 years, they built a family and traveled the world together. They were in love through to the end.
She loved her Heavenly Father, sunsets, babies, Waikiki Beach, leis made of plumeria, Christmas lights, Elvis, wearing perfectly-tailored dresses her mother made her, purple, the handsomeness of her husband, her weekly visits to the beauty shop, boysenberry punch, twilight at Disneyland when the lights come on, that her children found spouses she considered wonderful, big hugs, picnics, giving people an abundance of her homemade fudge, her grandson Sean always looking after her, knitting, cruises, porches with swings, her mama’s homemade ice cream, traveling the world, and most of all, talking to people.
She was compelled to serve others and worked as a nurse for newborns and as a perpetual volunteer. She was often noticed giggling and kissing her husband in the kitchen when they thought no one was around.
Mary Jane is survived by her devoted husband David; daughter Krista McDowell and her husband Mark of Dallas, Texas; son Bill Nelson and his husband Jason Sirois of New York, New York; grandson, Sean Lohman of Dallas, Texas; brother Bob Wilkerson and his wife Becky of Springfield, Missouri; sister Susan McCubbins and her husband Claude of Blue Springs, Missouri; extended family and many friends including Carleen and Brian Gaddy and the Pacesetters. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, and granddaughter Angel Lohman.
