Mary Agnes Pettella, a beloved resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, peacefully transitioned from this world on Thursday, August 31, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her Tulsa home. She graced this world with her presence on September 28, 1933, in Staten Island, New York, born to Victor Joseph Buebendorf and Mary Agnes McClean Buebendorf.
On June 29, 1957, she joined hands with Joseph Robert Pettella in holy matrimony, embarking on a remarkable journey together that spanned over 66 beautiful years.
Mary's career path led her through the retail jewelry world, where she expertly managed departments at esteemed establishments like Dillards, JC Penny, and Zales. Beyond her professional life, she found immense joy in watching movies and sports, with a special passion for baseball and football. Her collection of Precious Moments figurines and dolls showcased her fondness for collecting, and her love for watching QVC on television was a cherished pastime. Mary's green thumb was evident through her meticulous care of a thriving garden on her patio, tending to an abundance of plants. She found immense fulfillment in preparing family dinners, demonstrating her exceptional culinary skills.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Robert Pettella of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four children, Mary Anne Wetzler and her husband Jack of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Joseph Pettella, Jr and his wife Tresa of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Victor Pettella and his wife Amy of Georgia, and Laura Neimeister and her husband Christopher of Colorado; one sister, Gertrude Panayides and her husband Panos of Edmond, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Jean, CJ, Jonathan, Bryce, Lucas, and Avery; one great-grandson, Paolo and a host of friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings and her grandson Eric Neimeister.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Floral Haven's Rose Chapel. The burial will be a private ceremony at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Mary's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched with her warmth, kindness, and enduring love.
