Mary Ruth Propp's Obituary
Mary Ruth Propp of Skiatook, Oklahoma was born on May 26, 1940, in Pikeville, Tennessee to Luther and Ethel Moore. She married Edward Sapp in 1958 and they had two daughters, Melinda Joy Moss (Scotty) of Owasso, Ok and Patricia Ann Shiever (Terry), of Skiatook, Ok. She remarried in1981 to Dr. Albert George Propp in Dunlap, Tennessee where they lived until they moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma in 1999. She was happily married to Albert for over 41 years, until his death in 2022.
Mary had to drop out of school in the 10th grade to work but education was always important to her. She returned to school in the mid 70’s to get her GED and then continued studying to become a Laboratory Technician. She continued her education, eventually becoming a Medical Technologist and hospital Laboratory Manager at Sequatchie County Hospital in Dunlap, Tennessee before retiring to assist her husband Albert in his medical practice.
Mary had many interests and would say that she had never been bored a day in her life. She was a talented seamstress, an avid gardener, voracious reader (she had her own shelf at the local library), a wonderful cook along with many other interests and hobbies. She loved playing Rook with her family, working jigsaw puzzles, canning the vegetables she grew, crocheting, tending to a yard and house full of flowers and plants and learning new things. She was determined and successful in anything she put her mind to. Towards the end of her life, she especially enjoyed watching her new great-grandson, already determining that he was the smartest baby she had ever seen. Most of all, she loved the Lord. She taught Sunday School for many years and raised her children to love the Lord. She was loved and will be missed.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, her sister, Margaret Sue Swank (Jerry) of Gilmer, TX, her grandchildren Alex Mayfield (Eleanor) of Tulsa, OK, Andrea Adams (Daniel) of Catoosa, OK, Laura Williams (Dillon) of Owasso, OK, Monica Shook (Bryce) of Broken Arrow, OK, her great-grandson King Michael Williams of Owasso, OK and her three step-children, Dwight, Bradley and Candace Propp, all of Canada. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert George Propp, her parents and sisters Christine Tate, Jewel Harmon and brother Vernon Moore, all of Dunlap, Tn.
