Mary Belle Read's Obituary
Mary Belle Read, 98, of Coweta, OK passed peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on December 3, 2024. Mary was born in Thayer, MO to parents Willie and Edith Abbott.
Our dear Mary was always smiling, always happy. She always saw the bright side of things, and her infectious laughter lit up every room she entered. Mary worked for the Gatesway Foundation most of her life. Her dedication to serving those who were less fortunate exemplifies her generous spirit. In her 80s, Mary was forced to retire, a testament to her hardworking spirit.
Mary's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved God and always went to church. Every year, she took on the challenge to read the entire Bible, accomplishing this feat multiple times throughout her life. Her devotion inspired us all. Mary and her beloved husband, Emmitt Read, shared many joyful moments together, especially in their bowling league where they created cherished memories.
Mary was always supportive and never the type to tell anyone she was disappointed in them. Her loving, kind, and generous nature touched everyone she met. She is survived by her daughter; Mary & Bill Harless, grandchildren; Jamie and Kyle, Jennifer, Matthew and Cassie, Allison and Robert, Heather and Randy, Steve, Stephanie, and Stacey, as well as 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of other family and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband; Emmitt Read, brother; Bill Abbott, and son; Ray Justus.
We will forever carry her memory in our hearts, remembering her as the hardworking, loving soul who brought so much joy into our lives.
