Mary Lee Robertson's Obituary
Mary Lee Robertson was born on September 3, 1931, in Big Cabin, Oklahoma to her parents,
Emmett Leroy Washburn and Nannie Ruth Epperson. She passed away on August 27, 2022, just
one week before her 91st birthday.
As a young woman, Mary Lee was a go-getter, studious at school, and determined in the world.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Vinita, OK, and later worked as a switchboard
operator at Southwestern Bell. It was here where she met her future husband, James (J.R.)
Robertson when he called in to talk to another girl. Mary Lee never transferred the call. James
and Mary Lee got married at the courthouse on February 24, 1951.
Known well for her work ethic, Mary Lee’s career later took her to Sun Oil Company where she
worked as a receptionist until her retirement. Unable to sit still for long, she then reentered the
workforce and closed out her career as an information clerk at St. Francis Hospital.
Mary Lee was a dedicated wife, mother, and citizen to her local community. She and her family
were active members of The United Methodist Church of Broken Arrow, where they
volunteered regularly and never missed a Christmas Eve service. Mary Lee loved the holidays
and any opportunity to gather with her large and loving family. This was her happy place. Throw
in a game of Chinese Checkers and Mary Lee was on top of the world (mostly because she,
truly, could not be beat).
Mary Lee is proceeded in death by her husband, James; her daughter, Jamie; her sister, Kathryn
June; and her sons-in-law, Kevin and Randy. She is survived by her children, Kathy, Stacy, and
Craig; as well as ten grandkids, and seventeen great-grandkids.
The visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
