Mary Beth Robinson's Obituary
Mary Beth Robinson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully in her sleep May 31, 2016. She was a beloved kindergarten and grade school teacher in the Broken Arrow Public School system for over 30 years, mostly at Oak Crest Elementary School. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Broken Arrow and lived her faith every day. She was born in Spiro, Oklahoma to Ruth and Walter Rhodes. She acquired a “Teacher’s Certificate” during WWII. While getting her certificate, met the love of her life, Edward Frank Robinson at what was then known as Tahlequah Teacher’s College. They married and enjoyed a long loving 64 years together until Ed was called to heaven in 2013. She was proud mother of two children, Stephen Edward Robinson of Broken Arrow and Sue Jane Volarich of Springfield, Illinois. She was proud of her Cherokee heritage, “roll number” and dearly loved her brothers, sisters and extended family. Doting grandmother to four, she was faithful to care for any of them at any time, teaching, loving and guiding their growth into adulthood. She is survived by two brothers, Charles Rhodes of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Paul Rhodes of Florida. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Sue Sebo and a brother, Kenneth Rhodes.. She was in the excellent care and a three year resident of Cedar Crest Care Center, in Broken Arrow, OK. During her last weeks she was tenderly cared for by Hometown Hospice of Broken Arrow, OK. The family is grateful to the caregivers at both of these institutions and thankful that “Ed and Mary Beth” are together again. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6th, 2016 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
