Deeply saddened by the news of Capt. Mary's passing. In the near 40 years since the first meeting of Starbase Tulsa, hardly a week has gone by without thinking about the people I met, the lessons I learned there.Mary, you will be missed and celebrated by many. Not sure if Valhalla is big enough.
So, so very sorry to hear about my old friend Mary…she was definitely one of a kind and we loved her at AA! Wish I could attend and celebrate her life with you, but am sending my condolences.
I was shocked to hear of Mary's passing. Although it has been many years since I have seen her she had a major effect on me and all of her adoptive "sons". My heart goes out to Chris & Tom as do my prayers. Mary will trully be missed by all who knew her & personally my life is better for all of the good times we all shared. She was always there for all of us (Bob, Kyle, Paul, Deedee, and many others). she brought leadership and caring to a rag-tag group of young teens & I am still proud to call her Mom. Win and I moved from the UK to Tulsa 4 1/2 years ago, and consider ourselves blessed to be able to call Mary and Tom our dear friends. Many is the time Win & I were wondering what events were running in Tulsa, and that very day would receive an invitation from Tom and Mary to join them to attend special events, such as the Greek celebration, to see a show at the Casino, or to join this special couple for an evening meal, which was the most special event for Win and I. We are so grateful for Mary and Tom's friendship, and to show how they put friends first, 2 years ago Win and I moved house and Mary and Tom came over to help us move, they just came over immediately to help friends for which we were so grateful. It was a few weeks later during a lovely evening meal together they told us that they came to help us move having just arrived back from lengthy air flights where they hadn't slept for hours. This shows the depth of Mary and Tom's friendship. Such was Tom and Mary's passion for Science Fiction, that Win and I had great talks on the subject and learned a great deal from these two dear friends. Win and I consider our lives to have been made richer by meeting and knowing Mary and Tom, and will always be grateful for their loving friendship. Fate brought Win and I to Tulsa, but it was more than fate that brought Mary and Tom into our lives. Some things were just meant to happen. Mary led a rich and loving life, made even more so when she met Tom, and they made a wonderful couple. Our thoughts, prayers and blessings are with you both, today and every day. My dear sweet Mother. Your passing is inconceivable and I am unconsoleable. Tom, Vernon and I love and miss you so much it hurts. You are the brightest star in my sky and I will miss you always.
