Mary Ellen Wilson's Obituary
We mourn the passing of Mary Wilson, a beloved member of the Tulsa, Oklahoma community, who departed this world on February 19, 2024 at the age of 72. Mary was born on July 30, 1951 in Martinsville, Indiana to James Harrington Sr and Dolores (Tewell) Harrington. Mary's life was a testament to her kindness, hard work, and dedication to serving others.
Mary began her journey at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where she pursued her education and obtained a bachelor’s degree in science. She graduated in 1972 and moved to Tulsa, OK and started working for Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital (now Oklahoma State University Medical Center) and shortly after met Jimmy Wilson and together the two would have two sons who would be the light of their life. Mary also went on to work at Wagoner Community Hospital in Wagoner, OK as the Laboratory Director and Infection Control Specialist; Saint Francis Hospital, St Francis Hospital South; and Urologic Specialists of Oklahoma where she retired as the Laboratory Director in 2019.
Playing Scrabble with her mother, sister, and nieces created cherished memories filled with laughter and friendly (most of the time) competition.
Known for her strong work ethic, Mary held multiple jobs throughout her life, sometimes three jobs at the same time, demonstrating her commitment to providing for her loved ones and contributing to her community. One of her most cherished traditions was collecting surplus food from Panera Bread every Wednesday night, which included bread, cookies, and scones. She would then selflessly bring these delicious treats to the hospital, brightening the days of patients and staff alike with her generosity and thoughtfulness.
Mary will be remembered for her caring nature, her unwavering dedication to helping others, and her infectious smile that could light up any room. Her legacy of compassion and service will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Jimmy Wilson, Aunt Betty, and special friends Patti and Louie.
Mary is survived by her son Jeremy Wilson, son Justin Wilson, son David Ribbe, stepson Robert Wilson, sister Dolores Shelton, brother James “Jim” Harrington Jr, brother John Harrington, grandchildren Matthew Wilson, Josh Wilson, Nathan Wilson, many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
