Marylyn Rusher's Obituary
Marylyn Sue Rusher of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in Tulsa, at the age of 74. Marylyn was born January 27, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Cleo Bartholomew McCuen and Robert Eudell Sawyers.
Marylyn was a 1966 graduate of McClain High School. She graduated Cosmetology school in 1973, ultimately working for herself in her own salon. In addition to cosmetology and raising three kids, she also held various other jobs and volunteered at such places as the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels and was a devoted care giver for several family members throughout the years. Our beloved Marylyn was a beautiful person inside and out. She was compassionate, selfless and kind. She never said a bad word about anyone and was always willing to help a person in need. Her hobbies were going to garage sales and antiquing. She had a knack for decorating and gardening, with a creative mind for crafting and refurbishing furniture. She always made a warm and beautiful home. She enjoyed going to the Casino to work on earning that weekly “free” gift, but her favorite past time was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved to drive them all over God’s creation and would often take them hiking at her favorite spot, Redbud Valley. She was full of life, more energy than anyone and loved to dance, especially with her twin sister. They could do The Swing and The Twist together like no others. She loved going on motorcycle trips with her husband Roger, especially when it was to the beach. She was ornery and funny and could laugh at herself, which was good because she was often the brunt of the joke. There are so many funny stories of her getting herself into a pickle. Everyone loved sweet Marylyn and will sorely miss this Angel on Earth. It is comforting knowing that she is in heaven now dancing with her twin.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her sister Shirley Hinds, twin sister Marjorie Langford, father-in-law Floyd Rusher, and mother-in-law Waunita Rusher. Marylyn is survived by her husband Roger Rusher of 56 years; sister Frances Hawkins of Fayetteville AR; brother Johnnie Sawyer of Broken Arrow OK; daughter Tami Green and husband Jeff of Bixby OK; daughter Denice LaBass and husband Don of Catoosa OK; son Michael Rusher and wife Lannie of Owasso OK; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and her spoiled rotten fur baby, Sailor.
Visitation will be Monday, Dec 12, 2022, from 5-7PM. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Marylyn’s life at 12:30PM, Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Floral Haven Cemetery with interment and reception to follow.
