Mattie Octava Stout's Obituary
Mattie Octava Danel Stout (90), born July 15, 1926 slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Memory Care Unit of John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO. She looked forward to reuniting with her parents; Logan Howard and Lillie Ann Danel, her siblings, Harley, Grace, Joyce, Oscar, Donna, Edith, Joe, Richard, Jimmy and many other beloved family members and friends. After graduating High School at Panola, OK, Mattie moved to Tulsa, OK. in the summer of 1947 to be with her recently widowed sister. There she met her future husband, James Aaron Stout Sr., while attending Cincinnati Avenue Christian Church. They were married April 10, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. and celebrated 69 years together. Husband, James Sr.; daughters, Elaine (Jim) McClanahan of Shawnee Ks, Freida (Rodney) Brown of Sedalia, MO; and son, James A. Stout Jr. of Princeton, TX; as well as six grandsons, Michael and Jeffrey McClanahan, David (Heather) McClanahan, Nathan (Lori) Brown, Toby (Jennifer) Brown, Isaac (Becca) Brown, 14 wonderful great grandchildren, Grayson, Canon , Sawyer, Ysabella, Elias, Ezra, Bailey, Parker, Ellianna, Vivilynn, Jude, Titus, Evy, Tilly, and other many family and friends who remain, await a heavenly reunion with her. Mrs. Stout worked for a time at S.H. Kress & Company, Braden Winch Mfg. Co., and Kingly Business Forms in Tulsa, OK. where she was known as a trusted employee with a good head for bookkeeping and office management. Her interests included cooking, sewing, bowling, card games, dominoes, and travel. She acquired an extensive rock collection while visiting all 50 states and several foreign countries with her husband. Mrs. Stout was immersed into Christ at the Rocky Point (OK.) Community Church as a teenager. She remained an active and faithful Christian throughout life, attending both worship and Sunday School, singing in various church choirs, and cooking for meal functions. Neighbors as well as family knew her to be a protective, loyal, loving, and generous person.
