Maureen Evelyn Ragan's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Evelyn (Breen) Ragan. Affectionately known as “Mo” to her friends and family, Maureen departed this life with dignity on January 16, 2025, from Clarehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was surrounded by her devoted husband of 47 years, Ken, and dear friends Tasha Dalsing, Joanne McIntyre, Jeff Geren, Pastor Scott Pevehouse, and his wife Becky. True to her signature style, Maureen arrived at Clarehouse from St. Francis Hospital in a Porsche 930 Turbo.
Maureen was a proper English lady who cherished her British tea and brought English traditions to her household. Before beginning her life in the United States, she owned a fish and chip shop in Great Yarmouth, England. It was in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on a snowy January night at Reflections at 61st and Sheridan, that she met her best friend and the love of her life, her husband, Kenneth Wayne Ragan.
Maureen was a loving partner who supported Ken through multiple corporate transfers. An entrepreneur at heart, she also held positions with Western National Bank, Key Temp, American Color and Chemical, and Ryder Trucking. Maureen and Ken shared a life full of adventure during their 47 beautiful years together. In 1990, their family grew when they were blessed with adopting their two children, Daniel and Andreea, from Romania. Maureen was a devoted mother who did her utmost to help her children succeed.
Throughout her life, Maureen faced numerous health challenges with extraordinary courage. She endured 47 chemotherapy treatments, 28 radiations, 12 biological treatments, one photodynamic session, and a nearly 10-hour surgery that saved 60% of her stomach, leaving her cancer-free. Despite these hardships, Maureen always gave back. She and Ken enjoyed delivering teddy bears to intensive care patients at CTCA every Christmas to spread cheer. Maureen also overcame four major heart operations, exploratory surgery, and a life-threatening digoxin scare thanks to a team of 4 dedicated doctors. A true fighter, she inspired many by speaking at CTCA board meetings and offering encouragement to others.
In 2013, Maureen was featured in the Tulsa World for her belief that couples battling cancer together could triumph through love and teamwork. Her relentless spirit and optimism touched countless lives. Tragically, Maureen’s battle with esophageal cancer came to an end, but she faced it with the same grace and courage that defined her life, as she was also supported every step of the way by so many loved ones.
Maureen’s faith was the cornerstone of her strength. Though she had never feared death and always believed in God, she fully surrendered her life to Christ by asking Jesus into her heart at a Franklin Graham Crusade at the old Driller Stadium in Tulsa. She remained a faithful servant, attending South Lakewood Baptist Church for many years.
Mo was truly one of a kind. Her vibrant spirit, love for people, and determination to inspire others were unwavering, regardless of her own struggles. She was a dynamic force in this world, and her impact will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She will be forever missed.
Maureen is survived by her loving husband, Ken of Tulsa, Oklahoma; son Daniel of Delray Beach, Florida; daughter Andreea of Springfield, Missouri; daughter Kerry of Fountain Hills, Arizona; and daughter Nicky of Great Yarmouth, England. She also leaves behind their spouses and numerous grandchildren, who will carry on her legacy of love and strength.
