Maxine Gail Goodlin's Obituary
Maxine Gail Goodlin, 65, after bravely fighting cancer, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Maxine was born on September 20, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Ted Goodlin and Reva (Stokes) Goodlin. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1968, and then received a degree from the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts. In the early 1970’s, she started her career as an air traffic controller with Riverside Airport Jenks. after a few years she advance her career working with the Tulsa International Airport Control Tower where she met the love of her life, Malcolm Newton. They married in 1975. They then moved to western Oklahoma, for a few years, where Maxine began working for the U.S. postal service and they also spent a few years working in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, their love for the Tulsa area brought them back to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where she continued working for USPS until her retirement in 2009. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Malcolm, to whom she has been married for 39 years; three children, Alayna Leppke and husband Larry of Corn, Oklahoma; Christina Newton of Waterloo, Iowa; Mike Newton and wife, Shannon, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. six grandchildren, Nicholas, Juliana, and Morgan Leppke and Sydney, Jake, and Cassie Ballard; and her beloved dogs, Jackson and Murdoch. Services will be held, 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 6500 S. 129th E Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers donation can be made in Maxine’s name and honor to the Broken Arrow Neighbors or the Animal Humane Society.
