May Berntson's Obituary
May Berntson, age 80, passed away peacefully at home March 1, 2010. May was born in the Bronx, New York on November 30, 1929 to Robert and Elizabeth Taylor. She was raised in New York City, where she was active in the Presbyterian Church. She was working for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company when she married Raymond C. Berntson, May 16, 1953. Ray’s job took them to California in the late 50’s. They soon became the proud parents of daughter Barbara Ann and son Robert Alan. The family relocated and eventually settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1964. In addition to raising her family, May was active in the community with such organizations as Camp Fire, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, Tulsa Library Friends and Life Senior Services. May returned to the workforce as her children grew and eventually retired from Sheehan Pipeline Construction Company after more than 20 years. May spent her retirement enjoying time with family and friends. Her home was the hub for all children, grandchildren and extended family to gather for celebrations and holidays. She will be remembered as a friend who gave of her time and her heart freely. She had a positive outlook on life and always had a smile on her face. May was predeceased by her parents, a brother, and her husband of 30 years, Ray. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Berntson, son Robert Berntson, daughter-in-law Linda Berntson, niece Mary Taylor, Kathy Kubica and Andy Rana, Robert and Jossie Kubica, grandchildren Chris Berntson, Nick Berntson, Isaac Rana, Harris Rana, Jasmine Rana, Rudy Kubica and Ginny Kubica. Services will take place Friday, March 5, 2010 at Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Family requests donations to be made to Holy Family Adoption Services, Los Angeles, California.
