Melba Beatrice Hill's Obituary
Melba Beatrice Hill, a resident of Tulsa, passed away on January 16, 2019 at the age of 87. She was born April 5, 1931 to Osa and Martha (Cole) Woodward in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Melba grew up in and around Sallisaw, Oklahoma and graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1948. After graduating high school, she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she met and married her late husband Charles Ralph Hill on March 28, 1949. Ralph departed this life on November 14, 2005.Her husband; her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Lewis and Olta Carnes; two brothers, Hershel “Buster” Woodward and Hubert Dale Woodward, and her grandson, Ryan Hill, precede Melba in death.Melba is survived by two sons, Charles Roger Hill and wife, Sherry, of Broken Arrow; Kenneth Lee Hill and wife, Tricia, of Tulsa; her sister, Louise Scott of Moore, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Suzanne Wyatt, Megan Tarpley, Ryan Neighbors and Jennifer Flynn; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Melba worked as an office manager for various Tulsa car dealerships until her retirement in the mid-1990s. She attended the Church of Christ for many years.Quilting was a hobby of Melba’s, a skill learned from her mother. She made many beautiful quilts as gifts for family members over the years. Melba enjoyed working in her garden and yard. She was also interested in family genealogy. Doll collecting was another pastime. Melba especially enjoyed spending time with her family.Melba’s kind spirit, graciousness and generosity will be missed by all those that loved her.Viewing will be held Monday, January 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Merton Leigh officiating.
