ObituaryOfMelvarain HailMelvarain Hail was born on February 23, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Felix Edward and Nancy Jane Wilburn. She was one of seven children, five brothers and one sister. Her parents and siblings have preceded her in death. She lived her entire life in Tulsa. She attended Daniel Webster High School. In her mid-twenties she began working as an elevator operator at a department store downtown. Her boss could never pronounce her name correctly so he gave her the nickname “Betty.” This became her nickname for the majority of her life.Every day she rode a bus to work. One day while getting off the bus she heard someone whistle at her. She noticed a good looking man who was working at a construction site, looking at her and he smiled. This happened for several days. Finally they began talking, dating and eventually got married. She and Dub Hail were married for 40 years and raised three children. He passed away on July 17, 1992.During their life together, outside of raising their children, they were deeply involved in Epworth United Methodist Church. They were sponsors of the Methodist Youth Fellowship for nearly a decade. Under their leadership the group grew from 5 to 35 youth.Dub was a licensed lay minister and Melvarain was a Sunday school teacher.Melvarain had many passions in life. Preparing holiday meals for her family, working outside enjoying her flowers, listening to country music (down home country music, she always said!), watching the I Love Lucy show and FOX News. But her greatest passion was her family. She loved her family with all her heart. Melvarain was the happiest when she had her family around her. She loved celebrating all the holidays with family. She was a hands on Mom in raising her children. Making sure they were afforded all things life had to offer. She went to every practice, performance, and school function, etc. When her children began raising their children, she became the best and most loving grandmother and great-grandmother you could ask for in life. She loved and enjoyed them so much. They brought her such joy!As she grew older and age was getting the best of her, she found comfort in her daily devotions and reading her bible. The last few months of her life were spent with the family of the Brookdale Community (a memory care facility). She was happy and enjoyed the friendly and helpful staff. She loved them all. They were with her when she passed.Have peace in knowing Melvarain lived a fulfilled life and is with her Lord and Savior.Melvarain is survived by daughters Dubbie Irene Rogers and Nancy Jane Gamble; son G.
