Michael Wayne Dupree's Obituary
Michael Wayne DuPree, 77, joined his Lord and Savior on May 4, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson's and dementia. Mike was born on December 3, 1948 to Wayne and Pauline DuPree in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was raised in Tulsa where he met the love of his life, Carolyn Woods in junior high. Their first date was at his jr. high football banquet. Mike was a proud member of the Will Rogers High School Football team. Mike was an All State lineman and went on to play at Oklahoma State University. He then joined the army and served our country for 3 years. He served his overseas tour in Korea and then to Fort Hood, Texas. After leaving the army, he came home and married Carolyn on June 5, 1971 and they began their life together. Mike worked for PSO as a journeyman lineman until his retirement. He was very proud of the work that he did climbing all the poles and he was the first one to always volunteer to go to work when the power went out so as to help others. He also traveled out of town many times to help restore power to many cities who were devastated by tragic weather events.
Mike was most proud of the family he and Carolyn built. Mike was a natural at being a girl dad for Stephanie and Melissa. He would always carry the girls on his shoulders, take them on wagon rides and attend all of their events! When Mike finally had a son, Joshua, he was beyond thrilled to be able to share his love of sports with him. Mike never missed a game or practice for Josh and was his biggest supporter whether cheering him on or coaching him on the field!
Mike loved his church, Bethany Church, and even when he was declining in health, he still asked each day if he could go to church. He loved to volunteer each year at VBS and prided himself in helping build the Living Christmas Tree each year.
Although Mike was a very reserved man, he always was up for a good joke or had a newspaper clipping of a ‘funny’ to share with anyone! He also loved a good redneck joke. Mike was also very sentimental and would instantly tear up with emotions if someone thanked him for his service. He was so proud to have served his country.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Pauline DuPree; his sister, Darlene Richardson; his brother, Richard DuPree; and his in-laws, Jim and Billie Woods.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; his daughter, Stephanie Parker and husband Gentry; his daughter, Melissa Paschall and husband Jason; his son, Joshua and wife Lauren; His grandchildren; Cole Parker and fiance Cali, Caleb Parker, Hannah West and husband Caleb, Cody Paschall and his wife Ella, Cooper Parker, Bo DuPree, Charli DuPree and Brok DuPree and his Great Grandchildren; Hudson West, Boone Parker and the soon to be Adeline West.
