Michael McKenzie Lee's Obituary
Michael McKenzie Lee, a beloved resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 43. He was born on April 11, 1980, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and moved with his family to Broken Arrow just two years later, where he spent the majority of his life.
Mike's journey through education took him through Vandiver Elementary, Sequoya Middle School, and Broken Arrow High School. Throughout his school years, he made lifelong friends and established himself as a true member of the Broken Arrow community.
Mike's life was defined by his passions and pursuits. He was an ardent sports enthusiast, having participated in Broken Arrow Youth Baseball, Little Dribblers Basketball through First Baptist Church, and proudly played football at Broken Arrow High School. His dedication to sports was not only evident on the field but also in the camaraderie he built with his teammates.
Beyond sports, Mike had an undying love for music. He possessed a collection of albums and CDs that would leave you astounded, a testament to his profound appreciation for music. He also had a special place in his heart for playing the guitar, a skill that brought him immense joy and allowed him to share his musical talents with those around him.
Mike, known affectionately as "Big Mike" to his friends, was cherished by many for his warm-hearted nature and amiable personality. His infectious laughter and sense of humor brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though his time with us was far too short, Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving parents, Jim and Diane Lee; his brother, David Lee; his adored niece, Daisy Lee; and his loyal canine companion, Banjo, who still awaits his return home; his aunt, Doris Bishop, and her daughter, Jamie Bishop Dakins; his aunt, Jeanie McKenzie, additionally, he leaves behind, Pam Ignat, Erin Ignat, Mason and Max Ignat, Brian and Leslie Ignat, Todd and Lamda Ignat, Sammy and Tracy Ignat; and extended family members, Brian Goodson, Lahann and Lee, and numerous other family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Michael McKenzie Lee's memory will forever reside in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, humor, and love for life. His absence is deeply felt, and he will be remembered with love and fondness by all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire us all.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
