Michael Gary Moore's Obituary
Michael Gary Moore, 73, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2024, in his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Michael was born in Dallas, Texas on June 3, 1951, and grew up in Irving where he spent many a day playing sports with neighborhood children on Lincolnshire Ct. Michael later attended Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas where he made lifelong friends before he graduated in 1970. In the early 70s, Michael decided to attend Spartan College of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the plan to return to Texas after graduating. Those plans were forever changed when he met a girl.
After about 1 year of dating, Michael set up a three-way call so he could have a friend ask this girl what she thought of him. Her response of “He’s my little hippie” gave Michael the courage to ask Gwen for her hand in marriage. They were married in 1974 and recently celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Michael’s passions were classic rock, education and sports. He loved listening to the Eagles, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd and countless others. He was a Math Wiz and placed so much value in higher education, especially for his grandchildren. He was a great bowler and loved umping for youth fast pitch baseball and softball. He loved watching football and baseball. During the appropriate seasons, you could find him rooting for his Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. His loyalty to his teams were reflective of who he was. He was loyal to a fault and if he knew you, he was your biggest fan.
Michael was affectionate and compassionate and capable of such encouragement and kindness. He did not know a stranger and made you feel welcome from the first moment he met you. Michael would fill every room he was in. His ridiculous humor, goofy demeanor and antics, and endless supply of dad jokes would keep you amused and entranced. The only thing he seemed to love even more than making people laugh was to encourage others through celebration of successes or accomplishments. Michael had a way of celebrating even average accomplishments as amazing achievements. He was proud of many of his achievements, but none compared to his pride and joy in his family.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents George Moore III and Dorothy Lorraine Moore and his sister Patty Moore. He is survived by his wife Gwenda
Moore, daughter Lori Friday and her husband Brian Friday, son Anthony “Nick” Moore, daughter Jessica Anderson and her husband Steven Anderson, sister Judy Peters, brother George “Jimmy” Moore, brother David Moore, and three grandchildren Austin “Little Man” Friday, Brendan Anderson and Bethany “BG” Anderson. He is also survived by countless other family members, blood and otherwise. He will be sorely missed and forever remembered and loved. He now enjoys the warm embrace of his savior Jesus Christ while patiently awaiting his dear family and friends at the Gates of Heaven.
