Michael Weaver's Obituary
Michael Cameron Weaver, born June 8th 1946, in Pittsburg California, passed away peacefully, at the age of 79 in the morning of Tuesday, March 10th 2026, following a brief illness. Michael was known as Mike to various friends and family and lovingly known as Papa to his multiple grandchildren.
Mike was raised in Pittsburg, CA, and lived in a few places in the bay area before relocating to Willits in 1976. There he built a house in the mountains northwest of Willits for his family. He later moved into the town of Willits where he met his wife, Karin Yde, whom he married on February 6th, 1980, in Contra Costa, California and lived there for many years before they moved to Oklahoma.
Most people who knew him knew of his love for the outdoors, woodworking and anything to do with knives and guns. He found great joy in camping, hunting, fishing, and especially enjoyed varmint hunting, often going on trips with his best friends to shoot prairie dogs (known as a pest in Colorado, one of the places he frequented.)
Road trips with Mike are a lasting memory for many of us. Whether it be in his Winnebago or the Bronco, I’m sure we all can recall his love for classics like the Eagles whose CDs he played on repeat.
Mike was a man of many talents and interests. He loved metal detecting and took great pleasure in discovering coins, jewelry and hidden treasures. As a skilled woodworker, he crafted countless unique and meaningful pieces for family and friends, ranging from intricate ‘grandfather’ clocks to refillable pens.
He was also an excellent cook, especially known for his barbeque. Summer time visits would start with a trip to Okmulgee Lake to go fishing or the range to go shooting, by the evening he would be on the back porch cooking dinner on the Webber (his favorite grill,) then the day would end with everyone eating on TV trays in the living room while watching one of the countless old movies (his favorite were westerns) or television shows that were in his vast collection.
He also had a fondness for gun shows and took pride in collecting vintage knives and guns. Friends and family alike can recall the countless hours spent walking at the Wanenmacher’s gun show in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If anyone needed advice on reloading or what firearm to choose, he was the one to call. He taught many of his own children and grandchildren how to properly use a gun and emphasized safety in every aspect.
A lot of us can recall countless hours spent at the Okmulgee gun range for target practice. However, even though many know him as tough, opinionated, and sometimes downright stubborn and onery, he was a gentle giant at heart. Mike was a devoted animal lover who always had cats and dogs by his side. He told many stories of his beloved dog Goose, a Newfoundland that would “dive under the water to retrieve rocks,” Willy and Sarah his blue and red Heeler’s that he had since they were puppies, the “barely alive” stray he named Range, after the location he found her after she was dumped at the range; Jack, a beautiful longhaired Australian Border Collie, and most recently a Blue Heeler named Bella that he and his wife, Karin, adopted. Of course there was Sissy, the Blue Russian, and various other outside cats both of them would take care of.
There are countless stories of how he helped both friends and family in ways only a father could. Mike will be remembered for his strength, his generosity and his enduring love for family and friends. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the memories cherished and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Michael is preceded in death by his loving wife, Karin (Yde) Weaver, his parents Ezra Aaron Weaver and Barbara Lucille Dunaway; his grandparents, George Washington Dunaway and Tinnie Belle Dunaway; his sister Nora Louise Aguayo; his brother William Wallace Weaver; and his nephew Will Barber Weaver. Michael is survived by:

Michael is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members, including nieces Janice Hammel (Chris) and their children Melissa, Matthew and Sarah; Cathy Little and her daughter Cayla; nephew Mark Little (Felicia) and their daughter Destiny; nephew Matt Weaver (Elaine) and their daughters Tiana and Mesayla; as well as nephews Benjamin Aguayo, (son Aries); Aaron Aguayo; Rojelio Aguayo; (daughter Malia); niece Amanda Aguayo (Jesus Ochoa) children Ariana Franco, Eder Franco, Issa Ocho.
Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, March 29th 3-5pm in the meeting room behind and under the church at St. Anthony's. 515 S Morton Ave, Okmulgee, OK 74447
It will be a come-and-go to give everyone an opportunity to meet with the family and share stories.
