Frances Castell's Obituary
Millie Lou Frances Castell
February 4, 1933 – July 20, 2025
Millie Lou Frances Castell, age 92, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, at the Villages at Southern Hills in Tulsa.
Frances was born on February 4, 1933, in Provo, Arkansas, the only child of Cooley Marcus Jones and Eula Hill Jones. She graduated from Dierks High School and completed one year of college before dedicating her life to being a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
On July 14, 1952, Frances married the love of her life, William Franklin “Bill” Castell, in Provo, Arkansas. The couple shared 69 wonderful years together until Bill’s passing in October 2021.
A faithful and active member of Eastwood Baptist Church since 1959, Frances was devoted to teaching and service. She taught Sunday School, Sunbeams, and Girls in Action (G.A.s) for grades 1 through 6. She participated in the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), served in the Lottie Moon Post Office, and faithfully held the position of Adult Sunday School secretary for an incredible 56 years. She often joked that she and Bill joined Eastwood on a Sunday—and the pastor resigned the next.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Cooley and Eula Jones; her beloved husband, Bill; and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.
She is survived by her children: Larry Castell and wife Irene of Tulsa; Carol Stewart and husband Marshall of Tulsa; and Patricia “Trish” Hester and husband Keith of Clovis, California. Frances was a proud and loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her cherished feline companion, Boomer.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Floral Haven. A funeral service celebrating Frances’s life will take place on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., also at Floral Haven, with interment to follow in the Garden of St. Paul.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren: Sarah Waterhouse, Daniel Castell, Timothy Castell, Carissa Stewart, and Thomas Castell. Honorary pallbearers include Ben Hester, Andrew Hester, and Rebecca Stone.
Frances will be remembered for her unwavering faith, servant’s heart, and the deep love she shared with her family, church, and friends.
