Minnie Marjorie Hampton, She was born March 4, 1923 in Protection, Kansas to Walter and Mary (Cooley) Myers.She claims to have been born in the back of a hay wagon during harvest in a field in Kansas.She served her country in the Women’s Army Corp (W.A.C.) during the European African Middle Eastern Theater in World War II. She was a Teletype Operator assigned to the 3341 st Signal Service Battalion.During her deployment she was stationed in Germany, France and Switzerland. She received a rank of Sargent E-5.She returned home to Enid, OK where she met the love of her life, John William Hampton. John had just returned home as well after serving in the US Army. They married December 1, 1946 and made their home in Tulsa, OK.To this union seven (7) children were born. She spent most of her years as a Homemaker. After John retired from Texaco Oil Refinery, they moved to Braggs, OK where they owned and operated the Fishing Dock at Greenleaf State Park for seven (7) years.They were considerate, friendly and generous and often made fishing in the dock a memorable experience for campers and vacationer’s.After passing of John in 1993, her Son, Mike kept close for health & welfare purposes moving her to Wagoner, OK and Broken Arrow, Her Daughter, Colleen has resided in the home with her for the past ten (10) years when her health started to decline.
