Morrie Picking's Obituary
Morrie Walser Picking (60) of Broken Arrow, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 14, 1961, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia to her parents, Jerry and Barbara Walser. She married Brent Picking on August 11th, 1979 at the First Lutheran Church in Tulsa, OK, with whom she shared 42 years and had one daughter, Courtney Picking.
Morrie was a teacher her entire adult life, serving as a special education teacher for over 20 years, as well as a 3rd-grade classroom teacher and reading specialist. Most of her career was at Hoover Elementary School in Tulsa, where she was beloved by her colleagues and students. At work, church, and home, she was selfless, giving, kind, and hard-working no matter the circumstance.
Morrie is survived by her husband, Brent Picking; her daughter, Courtney Picking (Zach Rosson); her parents, Jerry and Barbara Walser; her brothers, Greg (Rosemary) Walser and Dan Walser; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nephews, and friends.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 12:30 PM at Floral Haven Chapel. A reception will directly follow the service; everyone is invited to attend.
