Mozelle Elizabeth Jackson's Obituary
Mozelle Graves Jackson, wife of Richard Jackson, mother of David Jackson, Thomas Jackson, Rosemary Jackson Siegele, and Sharon Jackson Wilson was invited into the Church Eternal at 6:10 pm on Saturday June 14th 2014. After 92 years in this earthly realm, she slipped away as quietly and peacefully as possible. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1922. She met her future husband, Richard, while attending Tulsa Central High School, from which they graduated in 1939. They were married a year later and so began their life together. While he worked various jobs and went to night school, earning a degree in architectural design, she became the mother of two sons and worked to make them all a home. At the outbreak of World War II, Richard enlisted and was sent to Korea. Mozelle, along with many other young women, went to work in the Tulsa bomber plant. Reunited with the return of peace, they were blessed with two daughters and many years together, cut short, however, by the early death of Richard in 1965. But Mozelle was always a hard-working, resolute soul. She sought and found a job in the Dietary Department at St. John’s Hospital and stayed with them until her retirement at 75.The passing of an elder relative is not a tragedy – but always a great loss. Her children, grandchildren, and family members are experiencing this separation. No more stories of the old days or memories of distant passed relatives—only in heaven will they be shared once again. Here we hear only peaceful silence. The cartoon strip “Pickles” recently said “When an old person dies, it is as if a library has burned down.”Mozelle needs no prayers. But we would ask for a comforting spirit for her family and friends. The challenge now is to live our lives in memory of her.
