Myron L. Dunton's Obituary
Myron (Ron) L. Dunton was born November 15, 1930, in Smith Center, Kansas, to Edwin and Jenny Dunton. He was the youngest of seven children. In 1952, he married Anne Slothower, a marriage which continued for 62 years. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry and went on to earn a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Ohio State University.
Ron and his wife, Anne, were founding members of Christ Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he served as one of the original elders. He continued to serve as an elder of the church for many years and also served as Treasurer, taught Adult Sunday School and sang in the choir. In addition, he was continually helping remodel or repair the church facilities and built church furniture, an ability which grew from his hobby of woodworking. Ron was a devoted husband and father and was willing to assist anyone who asked him for help with a project.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Anne, and is survived by two children, Dana L. Hammon of Tarzana, California and Ronald W. Dunton and his wife, Amy, of Houston, Texas as well as eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Christ Presbyterian Church in Tulsa.
