Nancy Fern Barnett's Obituary
Nancy Barnett of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, left us peacefully early Saturday morning, February 22nd at the age of 83. Nancy Fern Shields was born December 3, 1941, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to parents Joseph Merle and Mary Fern (Davis) Shields. Nancy married the love of her life, Wesley Barnett, on February 05, 1959, in Blackwell Oklahoma. They had two beautiful daughters, Becky Lynn and Brenda Ann and were blissfully married 63 years before the passing of her beloved Wesley November 17, 2022.
Nancy, a 24-year breast cancer survivor, was an avid lover of all things outdoors. Early adulthood was spent enjoying the slower side of life on the lake with family and friends. When she wasn’t enjoying a lakeside Cuba Libre, Nancy was a true force on the golf course, achieving a handful of hole-in-one’s, which brought her great pride. Golf took her to many beautiful places, with her favorite always being the club house of Indian Springs Country Club. Off the course, Nancy could be found playing cards and dominoes with her closest friends and family.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her two daughters: Becky McMurphy and Brenda Staires(husband Troy); grandchildren: Kacie Urbeck(husband Kevin), Ryan McMurphy(wife Nora), Heather Tapp(husband Jamie), and Jason Staires; great-grandchildren: Kamdyn Tapp, Boston Tapp, Paislee Staires, and Owen Staires; brother: Danny Shields; and sisters, Kari Day(husband Steve) and Joella Walker(husband Vernon) and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her dearest husband: Wesley Barnett; parents: Joseph Merle and Mary Fern Shields; and brother: Larry Shields
