Nancy Joan Heard's Obituary
Nancy was born in Durango, Colorado on July 21, 1936 to her parents Roy A. Garrison and Edith (Webber) Garrison. Nancy grew up in Durango where she received her education. She met and married Clarence Parrie on May 07, 1955. They had 4 children Joyce JoAnne, Leonard, Kimberly and Duane. Nancy studied to become a nurse and worked as x-ray technician in Durango, Colorado during the 70’s. She then moved to Odessa and worked in the hospital there as x-ray technician, after which she moved back to Durango, Colorado. Nancy ventured to Phoenix, Arizona where she , married Billy Ray Heard on November 13,1971 and they moved and made their home in Oklahoma. They had one son Kevin. She worked at Sears for 10 years as a sales representative and in shipping and receiving department. She then worked several part time jobs and landed a full time job at the truck stop in Catoosa where she worked for 13 years and then retired. Nancy after retiring still could not set idle and after moving from Tulsa to Collinsville She worked at the Dollar Tree in Owasso til her illness. Nancy joined many organizations. She was a member and past matron of Broken Arrow, served as Wm 2011 and Catoosa Chapters Order of the Eastern Star. Member and Worthy High Priestess of Tulsa Shrine 2004 – 2005 and member of Bethel Shrine Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Member and Past Royal Matron of Will Clark Tulsa Court and a Sunshine Court Order of the Amaranth and was Grand Royal Matron of the State of Oklahoma of the Order of the Amaranth in 2012 – 2013. Member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, where she was High Priestess in 1987-1988 for AABA Court #4. She was also a member of the Indian unit and the Clown unit of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. Past President of the National Guard Women’s Association since 1983. Member of the Social Order of the Beauceant and was currently President of Stillwater Assembly #124 upon on her death. Nancy loved all her masonic organizations and would do anything they asked of her. While a residence at the Cardinal Heights she was voted Mrs. Cardinal Heights Senior Citizen and went on to participate in the state senior citizen. Nancy during her spare time loved to sew, quilt, crochet, needlepoint and do numerous craft projects. She would make for friends and loved ones and sometimes for auctions for fund raisers. She always like to keep busy never idle. Nancy fought a long battle with her illness and will be truly missed. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents: her spouse, one son Leonard Parrie and both daughters Joyce JoAnne and Kimberly Faith. She is survived by her sons Kevin Heard and Duane Parrie and his wife Linda. In lieu of flowers for those that wish to may donate to Saint Francis Systems “cancer research” or Betty Selvey Camp Lube Go Diabetic Youth Day Camp.
