I had the pleasure of being Nancy's sister Heidi's neighbor and friend in Redmond, WA. I had met Nancy on an occasion or two while she was visiting Heidi, but I really became fast friends with Nancy when the three of us took a road trip from Seattle to Chicago in 2019. It was my first time using a selfie stick and we were all in! As you can see from these pictures, Nancy brought the JOY! That trip quickly became one of my favorite journeys of all time. Nancy shared stories and laughter and socks (another story) and she immediately made me feel like a Ferguson Girl.

After our trip, we corresponded, sent each other surprise packages and saw each other on occasion. We spoke of hitting the road again and singing the Fifty Nifty song as we entered each new state. I am so very sad we will not have that opportunity, but I am so extremely thankful for the chance to call Nancy my friend.

Cousin Nancy never lived nearby and we rarely saw each other growing up but in our latter years we connected via FaceBook. I enjoyed her pictures of her goldens, Dusty, flowers and endless puns. We connected further with our mutual and surprising cancer journey in stereo. This picture is of a bracelet she sent to me just a few weeks before she died, it said, "Change the world one act of kindness at a time." It makes me tear up to think that she was showing kindness to me when she was so close to passing. What a woman! I had hoped that she and cousin Lynn would make a road trip to my mountains in North Carolina to spend time together roaming through God's handiwork, laughing cooking and eating... but that didn't happen on this side of eternity. My heart hurts for her beloved husband and her close knit family and many friends. Love you Nancy!

From the moment Nancy met myself, my husband and parents, it was clear what a truly warm and lovely person she was. She had a natural kindness and an easy way about her that made everyone feel welcome. It is no surprise she was so rich in friends whose lives she touched.

She will be deeply and sadly missed, but remembered always with deep affection🕊️🕊️

It’s hard to put words together for you, Nancy. We have had some great times together and not so great times. Through it all you’ve been a wonderful inspiration to me. You never failed to lend an ear, to encourage me and even mentor me at work. Your friendship has meant so much more than I can put into words, so I will just say this: Everyone needs a Nancy in your life! Rest easy my friend and I will see you in heaven!

Nancy we are sure going to miss your laugh, sense of humor and friendship! You left us way too soon. There were still dogs to foster, trips to take, TU games to attend, pansies to plant and lunch with friends. But you LIVED a wonderful and full life. Sweet Cuz'n! There are more stories than I can count or share in this small space. She was bigger than LIFE, filling any room she was in with love and laughter - OH that Laugh! Infectious. I can't even imagine another soul who could fill the void she is leaving behind. She will be missed by anyone and everyone whose life she touched. Mostly mine. (The photo is one of the many times she came to visit John and, if possible, always with a dog in tow.)
